Soeben habe ich über die TM WhatsApp Gruppe die Information erhalten, dass gestern insgesamt 3 offizielle Proteste beim Contest Director eingereicht wurden. Zwei mal von Team USA und einmal von Team Polen. Kern der drei Proteste waren die schwierigen Wetterbedingungen mit zeitweise sehr starkem Crosswind von rechts. Die beiden Proteste von Team USA betreffend deren Flüge in der Gruppe 1 und 2 der Runde 6 sind zu spät eingereicht worden und wurden deshalb von der Jury auch abgelehnt. Der Protest der Polen kam zeitnah und die Jury kam am Abend nach ausführlicher Diskussion zu dem Ergebnis, diesem Protest statt zu geben. Das heißt nun, dass die 2. Gruppe in Runde 6 gestrichen und heute nochmals geflogen werden muss. Für unser Team heißt das, dass Lukas nochmals an die Knüppel muss.

Aktuell warten wir auf Wind und die Entscheidung, wo heute geflogen werden soll. Gegen 11Uhr soll es die nächste Info des CD geben. Bis dahin warten wir erstmal...

Start der 3. Gruppe aus der 6. Runde um 09:00Uhr. Das ganze Team ist hochmotiviert und freudig erregt. Immerhin zeigen die aktuellen Messwerte 20m/s Wind aus West. Wir spazieren vor an die Kante, es ist ja nicht weit von unserer Unterkunft. Armin und sein Team sind schon vor Ort und fleißig am Arbeiten. Auch wir bauen unsere Modelle auf. Noch schnell ein Blick von der Kante… Man kann sich richtig gegen den Wind lehnen. Er kommt etwa 5-10° von links. Oh yeah… Die Stimmung ist gut, sehr gut. Nicht nur bei uns, auch bei den anderen Teams. Drauf haben wir alle gewartet! Also fast alle… ein paar wenigen Piloten sieht man den Respekt vor dieser Kante und dem Wind schon an.

Endlich geht es los! Fernando von den Spaniern darf als erstes ran und die Gruppe 3 eröffnen. Das gesamte Teilnehmerfeld steht hinter ihm und blickt gebannt auf sein Modell. Es ist brutal, wie es geht, aber Fernando weiß, was er tun muss und zaubert eine fabelhafte 33er Zeit hin. Vielleicht hätte er noch ein paar Ballaststücke mehr reinpacken können. Tofo ist der nächste… Tobi wirft seinen Pit2. Die Pumper sind heftig, die Einflughöhe ausgezeichnet… Es geht los; Einflug von Links… Sehr schön zu sehen, wie auch er sein Modell unter Kontrolle hat. Ich hab´s nicht genau gehört, denke aber, er hatte einen 32er Flug. Nun ist Philipp an der Reihe. Ein Powerwurf von Lukas, der letzte Pumper geht in den Orbit. Philipp fliegt in die Strecke ein… ein Wahnsinn! Die Pieper kommen am laufend Band…. Peep… Peep… Peep Peep… Peeeeeep… 28 Sekunden! Hammergeil! Das sollte der 1000er in der Gruppe werden. Sehr gut!

Die 7. Runde wird umgehend gestartet. Das Organisationsteam arbeitet perfekt. Was soll ich viel sagen. Nicht jedes Modell überlebt diese Runde. Einige schlagen in der Kante ein, eines erwischt den Strauch in der rechten Wende, aber alles nur Materialschäden. Die Favoriten zeigen nun ihr ganzes Können. Unser Stefan ist an der Reihe und ein mörderischer 27er Flug bringt ihn nun in die Top 10. Philipp und Lukas übertrumpfen sich gegenseitig und kratzen schon am Weltrekord. Aber auch Tofo, Sebastien und Markus Meissner zeigen keine Nerven und bleiben an unseren Jungs dran. Ähnlich schauts in Runde 8 und 9 aus. Eine weitere Runde schaffen wir heute noch. Drei Österreicher unter den ersten 4! Die Messanlage gibt ihr bestes. Peep… Peep… Peep… Peeeep….

Um 08:00Uhr kommt dann wie vorgesehen die WhatsApp-Nachricht von CD Armin Hortzitz: Kein Wind, bereit halten, nächste Info kommt um 11Uhr. In der Tat kommt diese dann auch. Wir treffen uns um 12Uhr in Vitt zum Steine sammeln und starten um 12:30 mit Gruppe 2 aus Runde 6. Tatsächlich haben wir dann erst am späten Nachmittag bei etwa 4m/s starten können. Wir haben die Gruppe 2 geschafft. Die 3. Gruppe ging leider nicht mehr durch, da der Wind wieder einschlief. Fazit: Wir sind heute gleich schlau wie gestern…

Aber träumen darf man wohl noch!

Der zweite WM-Tag ist vorbei und es unserer Sicht war es wieder ein guter Tag. Begonnen haben wir um 09:00Uhr morgens am Goorer Berg bei etwa 7m/s Wind mit 30 Grad von rechts. Von uns durfte Stefan als erster ran an die Knüppel. Als zweiter Starter der Runde hatte er nicht wirklich gutes Wetter, legte aber einen exzellenten Flug hin. Im Laufe des Durchgangs wurden die thermischen Einflüsse wieder stärker; die Zeiten zwischen 55 bis 90 Sekunden... Lukas und Philipp zeigten in dieser Runde auch ihr ganzes Können, trafen die richtigen Entscheidungen und konnten so ebenfalls sehr gute Zeiten fliegen. 

Der 6. Durchgang wurde dann gegen Mittag noch in Goor begonnen und 2 Gruppen konnten fertig geflogen werden. Am Anfang der dritten Gruppe (nach Thorsten Folkers) wurde dann entschieden, aufgrund des extremen Crosswinds, zu unterbrechen und nach Dranske an den Turbulator zu fahren. Jedoch war es auch hier nicht viel besser. Ein "Zero Pilot" führte einen Probeflug durch und konnte den Flug auch bei legalen Bedingungen beenden. Es wurde dann gestartet, aber bereits während des ersten Fluges drehte der Wind noch mehr nach links und das Modell musste vom Strand geborgen werden. Das war´s dann auch schon für den ersten Tag. Bei uns hat es Stefan heute am Schlimmsten erwischt, da er auch im 6. Durchgang in sehr schlechtem Wetter fliegen musste. Sein fehlerfreier Flug war wurde jedoch nicht belohnt: Siggi hat die Gruppe nämlich mit einer 53er Zeit absolut dominiert. Lukas traf die richtigen taktischen Entscheidungen und konnte eine fabelhafte 56.89 hinlegen. In seiner Gruppe nur von Markus Meissner mit 55.85sek geschlagen. Philipp ist in der dritten Gruppe und wird morgen seine 6. Runde abschließen.

Ohne eine vollständige Runde, kann ich keine aktuelle Platzierung sagen. Allerdings dürften wir uns heute nicht verschlechtert haben :)

Am gestrigen Sonntag konnte das German Open im Windtunnel in Kreptitz fertig geflogen werden. Gleich am Morgen wurde die 4. Gruppe des ersten Durchgangs gestartet, welche Lukas mit einer 31er Zeit für sich entscheiden konnte. Die folgenden drei Durchgänge wurden von Sebastien Lanes, Lukas und Philipp dominiert. Windspeed lag anfänglich bei etwa 15m/s und fiel dann im Laufe des Tages auf etwa 10m/s ab. Leider gabe es auch einige Einschläge auf und unter der Kante; der Windmesser musste auch dran glauben.

Aus unserer Sicht war das GO2018 ein erfolgreicher Start in die Rügen-Woche: Platz 2 für Philipp, Platz 3 für Lukas. Stefan landete auf Platz 19. Die inoffizielle Teamwertung konnten wir für uns entscheiden. Herzliche Gratulation an den Sieger Sebastien Lanes. 3000 Punkte nach 4 Durchgängen sind eine beachtliche Leistung!

Erstmals bei einem F3f-Bewerb steht den Piloten am ein WLAN-Netz mit Livedaten des Wettbewerbs zur Verfügung. Es ist möglich, am Handy/Tablet live sämtliche Messwerte wie Windspeed, Winddirection, Time, Zwischenstände, etc... abzulesen. Ein absolut geniales Tool!

Um 17:00Uhr fand das Teammanager-Meeting statt. Dabei werden wichtige Details für die WM, wie etwa die Local Rules, besprochen und etwaige Fragen vorab geklärt. Nicht zuletzt wegen der gewohnt ruhigen und klaren Art von Armin Hortzitz, der als Contest-Director durch das Meeting führte, gab es eigentlich keine großartigen Diskussionen. Die verbleibende Zeit zwischen Meeting und Eröffnungsfeier konnte ich für einen kleinen Plausch mit dem Schweizer TM Martin Ulrich nutzen. Um 19:30 begann die Preisverleihung des German Open 2018 und anschließend dann die Eröffnungsfeier der WM. Wie schon 2012 fand die Zeremonie auch heuer wieder beim Leuchtturm in Kap Arkona statt. Besonders nett fand ich die Vorstellung der einzelnen Teams: Wir wurden auf die Bühne gebeten, während im Hintergrund ein kurzes Video mit Impressionen des jeweiligen Landes eingespielt wurde. Ich hoffe, dass die Videos irgendwann den Weg ins Netz finden, da diese wirklich sehenswert waren. Beim anschließenden Banquette wurde dann gut gegessen, getrunken und die Zeit mit den Freunden und Bekannten aus den 21 teilnehmenden Nationen genossen.

Heute geht´s los! Soeben kam die WhatsApp Nachricht, wo geflogen werden wird: Goorer Berg, Start der 1. Runde um 09:00Uhr. Phillip wird als Pilot AUT1 als erster Österreicher an den Start gehen. Danach folgt Lukas als Pilot AUT2. Zuletzt dann Stefan als Pilot AUT3.

The remaining time between the meeting and the opening ceremony I could use for a little chat with the Swiss TM Martin Ulrich. At 19:30 the award ceremony of the German Open 2018 began and afterwards the opening ceremony of the World Cup. As in 2012, the ceremony took place again this year at the lighthouse in Cape Arkona. I especially liked the presentation of the individual teams: We were invited on stage, while in the background a short video with impressions of the respective country was recorded. The following banquette was a great time to eat, drink and enjoy the time with friends and acquaintances from the 21 participating nations.

Der heutige erste WM-Tag führte uns um 09:00Uhr (eigentlich schon früher :) ) zum Goorer Berg. Die anfänglichen 9m/s Wind fielen im Tagesverlauf gleichmäßig auf etwa 7m/s ab, thermische Einflüsse wurden jedoch im Laufe des Tages immer spürbarer. Aus Sicht des Team Austria war dieser erste Tag ein sehr erfolgreicher. Mit Philipp und Lukas besetzen wir nach den ersten 4 Durchgängen aktuell die Plätze 1 und 2. Stefan liegt auf dem sehr guten 13. Platz. In der Teamwertung dürften wir auch relativ weit vorne liegen.

Sehr stark präsentieren sich auch die Franzosen und die Dänen. Das Team Germany musste heute etwas mit den Bedingungen kämpfen. Kämpfen mussten auch einige andere Piloten... Einige schlugen in der Kante ein, andere querten die Safety-Line, wieder andere setzten ihr Modell in Baumkronen ab.

Hier noch ein paar Impressionen des heutigen Tages.

Heute war der erste Wettbewerbstag vom German Open 2018. Im Großen und Ganzen kann man diesen Tag als wettbewerbstechnischen Arschlochtag bezeichnen. Nach der morgendlichen Begrüßung der 64 Teilnehmer durch Erik Schufmann und Armin Hortzitz ging es auf den Goorer Berg. Bei etwa 4m/s Wind wurde der erste Durchgang relativ zügig gestartet. Die Zeiten lagen überwiegend im 70er Bereich. Wobei die Bedingungen anfänglich noch etwas gleichmäßiger waren. Im Laufe des Durchgangs wurden die thermischen Einflüsse spürbarer. Sebastian Lanes konnte längere Zeite seine 66sek verteidigen. Erst unser Philipp konnte da mit einer 61er Zeit dagegen halten. Kurz darauf wurde er aber noch von Mike Müller mit einer 60er Zeit überholt. Um 11:30 musste dann wegen eines Halbmarathons (die LäuferInnen querten die Einflugschneise) kurz unterbrochen werden. Leider schlief dann auch der Wind ein. Um 12Uhr war dann klar, dass es eine Gruppenwertung  (4 Gruppen) geben wird. Armin blieb nichts anderes übrig, als zu warten. Um 15Uhr fiel dann die Entscheidung, die Kante zu wechseln und nach Kreptitz an den "Windtunnel" zu fahren. Das perfekt eingespielte Veranstalterteam konnte sehr schnell die Anlage und Markierungen am neuen Hang aufbauen und die letzte Gruppe wurde dann bei etwa 3-4m/s gestartet. Lustig zusehen war es allerdings nicht... Nach etwa der halben Gruppe drehte der Wind dann und an ein weiterfliegen war nicht mehr zu denken.

Fazit aus unserer Sicht: Auch wenns ein Arschlochtag war, können wir durchaus zufrieden sein. Wir freuen uns jetzt mal auf ein gutes Abendessen made by Nicole und morgen auf die Fortsetzung des German Open: 08:30Uhr Start der 4. Gruppe am Windtunnel im Kreptitz!

Conclusion from our point of view: Even if it was an asshole day, we can be quite satisfied. We are now looking forward to a good dinner made by Nicole and tomorrow to the continuation of the German Open: 08:30 start of the 4th group at the wind tunnel in Kreptitz!

Heute ist das Team Austria auf Rügen angekommen. Nachdem Stefan gestern Abend in Linz losgefahren ist, war er heute schon recht zeitig in Dranske um den Tag fürs Training zu nutzen. Philipp und Nicole haben gestern Wien in Richtung Rügen verlassen und sind ebenfalls heute vormittag vor Ort angekommen. Für Franz und mich ging die Reise heute in den frühen Morgenstunden los. Um 6 Uhr verließen wir den Flughafen Graz-Thalerhof in Richtung Wien, wo wir kurz darauf Lukas getroffen haben. Zusammen ging´s dann weiter nach Berlin und von dort mit dem Mietwagen in unser Feriendomizil direkt beim "Turbulator" in Dranske/Rehbergort.

Wir konnten heute auch gleich noch das "Processing" hinter uns bringen. Somit wäre auch der erste offizielle Teil der WM erfolgreich erledigt. Bei der Gelegenheit konnten wir auch gleich einen Teil unserer Teamkleidung ausführen. Neben den Team-Hoodies von f3f.eu haben wir auch T-Shirt´s in weiß und schwarz von "Wildstil". Vielen Dank an Chrissi Scheiber für die tolle Arbeit bei den Shirts! Sie passen wie angegossen!

Den heutigen Tag lassen wir nun gemütlich bei Chili (von Stefan´s besserer Hälfte), Bier und dem einem oder anderem Spiel ausklingen.

Today Team Austria arrived on Rügen. After Stefan started yesterday evening in Linz, he was today quite early in Dranske to use the day for training. Philipp and Nicole left Vienna yesterday towards Rügen and also arrived this morning on the spot. For Franz and me the journey started today in the early morning hours. At 6 o'clock we left the airport Graz-Thalerhof in direction Vienna, where we met Lukas shortly afterwards. Together ging´s then further to Berlin and from there with the rented car to our holiday domicile directly at the "Turbulator" in Dranske/Rehbergort.

Today we were also able to get the "processing" behind us. Thus also the first official part of the WM would be successfully finished. On this occasion we were also able to do a part of our team clothing. Beside the Team-Hoodies from f3f.eu we also have T-Shirt´s in white and black from "Wildstil". Many thanks to Chrissi Scheiber for the great work with the shirts! They fit like a glove!

Today we let the day end with Chili (from Stefan´s better half), beer and one or the other game.
